mobile blogging
As I lay here unable to fall asleep in my bed and too lazy to grab the Mac, I thought to try out blogging via browser on my touchscreen mobile phone. Supposedly, this is a popular (and lucrative) hobby in Japan where cell phones have basically replaced wallets. Microblogging in America takes on a different and more ADD-like form; i.e. the master text 140 character-limited shout out tool known as Twitter. As i’ve become more emersed and entwined with social networking channels and outlets, I’ve come to see how individualistic, narcissistic and connective it can really come down to be. We are in no doubt living in a “Me” centered society and we leave digital footprints everywhere we go in the world that is web. I’ve made sure to leave a personal, eclectic profile map in Search, but does it really help or hurt me in the end? What happens when all that we love to share, trade and proclaim online are heard or seen no more? Will we feel mute, unloved or forgotten? Or will we come to feel free of the saturation that is already here? This question would probably pose as a good case study. Now, i’m off to attempt to sleep again. I hope to succeed.
